I’ve taken a stand against blood cancer.
Fundraising speech.
I have never been one to post on social media, however this cause is close to my family’s heart. As some of you may know, my father passed away in February after battling leukaemia for the past two years. He was more than a parent; he was a friend and a mentor, and a hero in my eyes.
To honour the great man, I've decided to takeon the challenge of raising funds for the Leukemia Foundation, aiming to provide support and resources for those battling this disease. As part of the fundraising goals, I want to keep myself accountable and have a goal in mind. The last half marathon I ran, my father paced me with a time of 1:41:26. Therefore, for every minute beating this time at the Fremantle Half-Marathon in November, I’ll be donating $250 of my own money. For context I aim to break 1:35 with the hope I can go lower.
The money I raise will help provide care for those in need right now — and it will back the brightest researchers to continue uncovering faster diagnoses and better treatments to save lives. Your donation, no matter the size, can make a tangible difference in the lives of those affected by leukemia.
Feel more than welcome to follow me on my journey on strava (link below) as I’ll be posting my times and efforts prior to the run. Thanks for listening and have a lovely day
