Please join us to raise awareness and funds for the Leukaemia Foundation in memory of Lyndell
On the 26th of June 2021 the Goondiwindi Rugby Union Club will be hosting their annual Ladies Day.
Each year the Club donates proceeds from this day to a worthwhile charity or cause.
This year, in honor of Lyndell Cairns and her battle with the rare T Cell NK Lymphoma blood cancer, the Rugby Club and Ladies Day Committee have chosen the Leukemia Foundation as the receiving charity.
Lyndell and her family have been long time supporters and members of the club.
Lyndell was a former Secretary and Treasurer of the club and a Ladies Auxiliary member from the early 80's and on through to the 90's. The Ladies Auxiliary organised the inaugural Ladies Day in the 90's which has grown immensely to become one of Goondiwindi’s most anticipated annual social events. Lyndell greatly enjoyed attending these days as well as helping her daughter Jodie plan and organise the recent days.
In the grandstand, Lyndell is a proud wife, mother and now mother in law of players.
In 2017 Lyndell was named an Honorary Life member along with her Husband Jeff for her services to the Goondiwindi Rugby Union Club.
Sadly Lyndell lost her 6 month battle with this rare blood cancer on June 8th 2020.
Her support for the club and her presence in the grandstand has been missed this year and it is a tremendous gesture by the Goondiwindi Rugby Union Club to show their support for Lyndell and her family by using their largest social day for fundraising to such a worthwhile cause.
We hope to raise awareness of the vital need for funding to help support families and for research to find a cure for Blood Cancers.
The money raised will help the 47 Australians who will know that they have blood cancer by the end of today — and for the 47 families who will face the same devastating news tomorrow.
It will also back the brightest researchers to continue uncovering faster diagnoses and better treatments to save lives.
It took doctors 8 weeks to diagnose Lyndell's rare condition. 8 weeks that could have been used for treatment with an early diagnosis.
Blood cancer affects people of all ages including very young children.
Please show your support by donating to our fundraising campaign.
There will be raffles and donation Pods located throughout the Riddles Oval venue on the day.
Come along and enjoy one of the great social events of the year. Just by being there you will be showing your support for our campaign as well as having a most enjoyable weekend.
