When Leukaemia came to our home.

Leigh was your regular Aussie mum, until her family’s world was shattered when her son was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.

 Because of the previous funding and the great research and work of dedicated people, we started that journey with hope.

With the power of that hope, Leigh and her family chose to fight the disease with positivity and quiet confidence.

Her son was cured.

Having survived this very challenging time, Leigh was inspired to make a difference in her community, and created a dance group for people with special needs.

With no formal dance or special needs training but armed with a determined commitment and cheerful and energetic personality, she established “Happy Feat”.

This group has changed countless lives and captured the hearts of thousands. From endless transformative achievements of individual Happy Feater’s, to the group’s many acceptance-inspiring public performances – including three concerts with Guy Sebastian, the Opening Ceremony of the Special Olympics, and wowing the audience alongside the wonderful Delta Goodrem.

Motivated to inspire others to adopt her ‘Believe and You can Achieve’ mantra to tackle life's many challenges, Leigh, with her own down-to-earth blend of humour, poignancy, and brave vulnerability, shares the highs and lows of these journeys in her memoir “Hope Grit & Gratitude”.
