My story

My name is Rachel and I have signed up to swim the Rottnest Channel swim - which means I will be swimming 19.7km from Perth to Rottnest on the 26th February 2022.

Most of you who know me understand that my lanky (slightly uncoordinated) legs are much better suited to water sports. I have previously completed the swim as a duo and team, and have decided to commit to the whole 19.7km as a solo. Yes - I may be slightly crazy, and yes - I sometimes freak out about sharks, BUT overall I am pretty darn excited to work towards this goal.

I have decided to fundraise money for the Leukaemia Foundation over the course of my training - with the goal of raising $3000 for this amazing charity. Why have I picked the Leukaemia Foundation? A close family friend Vera Sherring unfortunately passed away from this illness in early 2021. She had a huge smile and contagious laugh and I feel this is one crazy idea that I know she would have supported me in. It is nice to think that she will be watching over me, sending me some stern words of encouragement and protecting me from the sharks (thank you Vera).

All support and or donations are very much appreciated Thanks a heap!

I’ve taken a stand against blood cancer.

Today, more than 50 Australians will be told that they have blood cancer and tomorrow - another 50 families will be devastated by the same news.

I have created this page to raise vital funds to help provide the special care that is needed to get families through a blood cancer diagnosis as well as to help fund more game-changing research into this disease.

The money I raise will help provide care for those in need right now — and it will back the brightest researchers to continue uncovering faster diagnoses and better treatments to save lives.

Please show me your support by donating to my fundraising campaign.
