Charity Shave Chapter!

Our work place is full of “family”!
We work away from home most of the year, which means we have a second family, the shutty family. We care for eachother in a hole different way and the trust and support out here is incredible!

For this reason, I knew it wouldn’t be hard to sell a few drinks and raise some money for my mates with leukaemia, but these guys I work with have gone above and beyond to help me help them!

Spontaneously a few weeks ago Jonesy come to me and offered to do a “shave for a cure” donating his hair and beard if we can raise $2500. But he wanted the money to go to the kids, Darcy and Dash.
This would be a side mission in my main fundraiser, which is for LF and the kids.

Of course I agreed and we started planning, then word got out!

Few days later after some thinking my other great mate Stotty decided to donate his beard also for $2500.

These two I have know for years and never seen without their fabulous facial hair! I’m still shocked at the generosity.

Not only donating their hair but their time and bringing their friends and followers to support my fundraiser!

before the second beard shave we had raised $7000! Smashing our original goal of $5000!
April 3rd! wass Stottys beard shave, the final shave and end to the chapter. Once the event is over I will send the funds to the families to help them with loss of wages, transport costs to and from brisbane for treatments and maybe a little Easter gift to help spread the joy :D

We had a ripper night coming together, we raised over $3000 that night, Josh Horkings spurr of the moment donated his long hair for $500, that turned into $1500!
we hosted another raffle with lots more prizes being donated from my work mates. and the classic bidding war for who gets the first cut of the beard!

All in all, thankyou to the legends that Shaved for our boys we made $10,000! this will be a gift to Darcy and Dash.
i recently announced it to the parents and Darcys Family, seen as theyre alot further along in his treatments and working again, have decided to gift Dashes family some of their fund, so we are now spliting it 80/20!
giving Dash and his Father Shaun Leather, 80%.
Shaun and Dash are still in the this of his treatment, Shaun is a single parent and not working during this time.

About our cause

This cause is something that is close to my heart and I’m sure most of you reading this would share a connection if not to the to the people I’m supporting but share compassion for the cause, Darcy Greenwell and Dash Leather! Two beautiful young boys 3 and 5 years old. Both Families are living with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (A.L.L)

I’m currently running a soft drink drive at my work site and organising Raffles and events during the 4 months we are on this site, in Moura QLD @ Dawson Mine doing a Shutdown.

Darcy Greenwell is my Nephew, they live in Maryborough QLD the family of 4 own a Foodworks in town. Darcy is a year into his treatments and is home now with the family back together but for the first 6/8montns Mum and Darcy had to live at the LF appartments in Brisbane away from Dad and Big Sister.  Dad had to stay home to run the business, and big sister has just started school.

Dash Leather is a cool little dude, his father Shaun Leather was a supervisor for my company G&S Engineering for a long time before leaving to work at home and be with his son as a Single Parent, they live in Bundaberg. Since Dash was diagnosed this year Shaun has had to stop working all together for Dash’s treatments. They’re currently staying a LF appartments in Brisbane. Shaun stopping work for this means they have lost their main source of income, they’re also in the toughest, busiest part of life with leukaemia.

Most of this fundraising will be done locally on onsite although I have created this page to raise vital funds, all will help provide the special care that is needed to get families through a blood cancer diagnosis as well as to help fund more game-changing research into this disease.

ALSO! we are recycling the cans we sell during this drive, if you’d like to donate any 10c containers. You can find your local Containers for Change organisation and provide our Scheme ID Number C10423737, the money from your containers will be automatically sent to our fundraiser.

The money I raise will help provide care for those in need right now — and it will back the brightest researchers to continue uncovering faster diagnoses and better treatments to save lives.

Please show me your support by donating to my fundraising campaign. And follow our journey on this page! We will have a few side missions to raise fund for the kids and LF
