Why The Leukaemia Foundation?
Earlier this year I lost my Dad to Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. Dad was diagnosed in January 2021 and after several unsuccessful bouts of chemotherapy he was accepted into a treatment at the Royal Brisbane Hospital. Both he and mum spent almost 4 months in Brisbane with Dad in and out of hospital during that time. I spent around half of that time with them. The whole time we stayed, free of charge, in a unit owned by The Leukaemia Foundation. There is simply no way that we could have afforded 4 months of accommodation in a 2 bedroom unit in Brisbane. While Dad's treatment ultimately was unsuccessful, it would have been 'the great unkown' if he didn't have the opportunity to go to Brisbane to try. Both mum and I are eternally grateful for the support offered by the Leukaemia Foundation. I had been involved in fundraising for charity with a 4wd tour previously and when all of this came about my first thought was to give back and support The Leukaemia Foundation. We always had 4wd's when I was growing up and I inherited my love of adventure from my Dad. I also spent a lot of my youth living on the West Coast of Tassie. A 4wd Tagalong Tour on the West Coast of Tasmania feels like a fitting way to both raise money but also pay tribute to 'my Dad'.I’ve taken a stand against blood cancer.
Today, more than 50 Australians will be told that they have blood cancer and tomorrow - another 50 families will be devastated by the same news.
I have created this page to raise vital funds to help provide the special care that is needed to get families through a blood cancer diagnosis as well as to help fund more game-changing research into this disease.
The money I raise will help provide care for those in need right now — and it will back the brightest researchers to continue uncovering faster diagnoses and better treatments to save lives.
Please show me your support by donating to my fundraising campaign.
