I’ve taken a stand against blood cancer.
Today, more than 53 Australians will be told that they have blood cancer and tomorrow - another 53 families will be devastated by the same news.
Earlier this year, that Australian- was my mum and the news of her leukaemia absolutely devastated our family.
I have created this page to raise vital funds to help provide the special care that is needed to get families through a blood cancer diagnosis as well as to help fund more game-changing research into this disease.
The money I raise will help provide care for those in need right now — and it will back the brightest researchers to continue uncovering faster diagnoses and better treatments to save lives.
After receiving chemo, my mum began to feel and see the side effects, which included losing her precious hair, causing her even more pain. But she chose to take it head on and cut off what she had left. Although we had no idea how it would turn out, she truly looked amazing and just as beautiful as ever.
Many of us would say this about our mums, and mine is no exception- she really is the most kind, caring, generous and loving soul in the world. What was inspiring to me was how she fought to keep her spirits up and showed incredible bravery during this turbulent and uncertain time in her life.
I’m honouring my mum and showing my support during her continued treatment journey by choosing to cut off my hair, “a close cut for a close cause.”
