Remission is a wonderful thing
In 2016 our son Kristopher was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia. After several months of treatment in Canberra the doctors decided Kristopher needed to go to Sydney to have a bone marrow transplant. Kristopher was in Westmead hospital for 3 months. During this time the Leukaemia Foundation provided our family with accommodation near the hospital and support with his medical bills.
In September 2022 our family was struck again with devastating news when my Dad was diagnosed with CNL, an extremely rare form of Leukaemia. Sadly, my Dad passed away from complications on 2nd June 2023.
Since Kristopher’s diagnosis, our family have organised regular fundraisers including raffles, auctions, barefoot bowls nights and golf days to thank the Leukaemia Foundation for their support.
In March, this year Kristopher will reach an important milestone of 10 years in remission. Our family decided what better way to acknowledge this milestone than to hold another Golf Day to raise much needed funds for the Leukaemia Foundation.
I’ve taken a stand against blood cancer.
