We’re excited to invite you to Tread for Ed, a charity walk and family day proudly organised by Iconic in support of the Leukaemia Foundation.

This special event honours Eddy and brings our community together to raise awareness and funds for Australians living with blood cancer.
Enjoy a scenic community walk (approx. 2 km around the
park), kids’ activities, food trucks, and a raffle - all while supporting a
meaningful cause.
This is a free event with no registration required. Donations are encouraged, and you’re welcome to enter the raffle to further support the cause.

A walk with purpose
Understanding leukaemia and blood cancer
Leukaemia is a type of blood cancer that affects the bone marrow and the production of blood cells.
It occurs when abnormal white blood cells multiply uncontrollably, crowding out healthy cells and weakening the body’s ability to fight infections, transport oxygen, and prevent bleeding.
Why awareness and research matter
🩸 Every day, 55 people in Australia are diagnosed with blood cancer.
🩸 Leukaemia is one of the most common childhood cancers but also affects adults of all ages.
🩸 Advancements in treatment have improved survival rates, but more research is needed to find better, less toxic therapies and, ultimately, a cure.
Why we’re walking
This charity walk event aims to raise both essential funds and awareness for leukaemia, and other types of blood cancer that affects many Australians.
Through participation and donations, we honour Eddy while supporting those who
are currently facing this disease.

A legacy of strength - Eddy’s Story
In 2014, Eddy Cionci was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML) at 79 years old. The news was shocking for a man who had always been active and full of life.
Despite enduring the challenges of chemotherapy, fatigue, and the loss of independence, Eddy faced his battle with resilience and the love of his family.
A meaningful trip to Italy during his illness became a cherished memory, strengthening their bond.
Eddy passed away in 2017 at the age of 82, but his legacy lives on.
His family remains committed to raising awareness and funding research, determined to make a difference for others facing leukaemia.
