Shayne Clark

Shayne’s son Matt Clark was part of the Sydney Ice Dogs. Matt lost his battle with Leukaemia, but his last wish was for his friends and family to continue to raise money for the Leukaemia Foundation to help with research, to raise awareness and to help others who have been affected by this disease. Now in its 4^th year, Shayne and her family continue to fulfill Matt’s wish and the Sydney Ice Dogs take to the ice each year for the Matt Clark Memorial Fundraiser.

“I just didn’t know how we were going to survive”

Five-year-old Jacob was diagnosed not just once but twice with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), a rare type of blood cancer that can be difficult to treat.

Jacob was first diagnosed at the tender age of two after his mum, Earlene noticed he was bruising easily and looking very pale.

The family stayed at a Leukaemia Foundation Patient Accommodation Village for the duration of Jacob’s treatment, finally able to head home after 8 long months involving countless rounds of chemo and a bone marrow transplant.
